That will be my dying wish!

I seem to be going through a bit of a hormone imbalance at the minute. My skin has really flared up and has become blotchy, red and quite spotty mainly on my cheeks and neck. I thought being in my mid-twenties would have stopped these sudden break outs but it hasn’t had any effect. I’m still as prone as I ever was, maybe even more so. Everyone around me seems to have control of their skin. Why do I always have to be the odd one out?

Granted, my diet probably isn’t the best but it hasn’t changed dramatically over the past few years and I’m still eating pretty much the same. After years of stopping and starting with a skin care regime I’ve finally started one up again but I see no benefits from that either. Unless this is clearing out my skin and things have to get worse before they can get better.

Plus squeezing the spots is always a big no-no isn’t it? But I can’t seem to help myself. If I see something I start picking. I have a tendency to do this in the morning just as I’m getting ready for work which leaves my skin completely red, out of control and hideous. I must stop doing this! My skin is already a bit pock marked on the cheeks due to chicken pox scars and previous squeezing, I don’t really want it to get worse!

So girls, give me your tips, share your advice and help me clear my skin up.

  1. Yeah…..I don’t have much of a problem with that, but I’ll be forty five in a couple of weeks and every now and then I get a doozy of a pimple. Makes me laugh. It would be great if that nonsense just stopped after a certain age.

Drink lots of water. This is my advice. My son teases me saying, “My God. If I were hit by a bus, you’d run into the street yelling, “Drink Water!!!” ”

    Take Care….it flies by!

they say water is good for you. hydrated skin stops the build up of oils and everything but everyone knows there is one big problem with water. that its boring mostly and most nice things are much worse for your body including your skin.

i never have had a skin care regime but I’ve never really had problem skin either unless it’s “that time of the month” which obviously brings out the worst in everything.

Saying that, has it got worse since you’ve been on medication?

    • Umm, not really. Probably got redder because I don’t leave it alone. I’m already drinking water although it’s probably not as much as it should be. Have to drink it coz I get my hydration checked from time to time at the gym.

      I feel so grotty now!

  3. I’ve got a big fat pimple in my forehead right now. Ugh. Maybe instead of forcing that gunk out by squeezing, take a pin and open the pimple. That way you don’t hurt your skin and it’s not as painful either.

Also, exfoliate. It’s really good for your skin. If you don’t have an exfoliator, gently rub a facecloth on our skin while you’re in the bath.

I’ve heard stress can also cause bad breakouts.

    • I’m going to start exfoliating again. I just got really lazy and now I’m going through the crap being lazy causes. I might try the pin idea, but I bet I don’t!

      Thanks Nic! x

Although I wash my face regularly to keep it clean, I don’t think that is what helps me. My doc put me on a different birth control pill a few years back that helps balances out my hormones so I don’t get break outs as often and my skin used to be fairly bad back then too. However, since being on this pill i only get the occassional blemish and spot, usually if i use an oily moisturiser and i haven’t looked back since.

Ah I totally sympathize with you! I am now…46…not sure how that happened! Anyway, I still get break outs! I have tried everything imaginable through the years; haven’t found the wonder product yet! I have been using witch hazel as an astringent lately. Not sure if that is what has helped my face or it is truly my age; but it seems to be better. The only time I didn’t have a problem was when I was a teenager and a Dr. prescribed me some kind of pills to take for my acne. You might think about going to a dermatologist. It would be so nice to have a good complexion, I envy people who do!
